The gun turning into either the Angel Arm or Devil Arm would be really bad. Neither weapon is something you want to use in close quarters.

Technically, those are weapons. A gun is a weapon that requires multiple people in order to operate effectively, such as a Howitzer, M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, or other weapons along that line. That’s just the soldier in me, I can’t help it :P

I’ve seen a DE field stripped and held one and there are parts in that DE that I have not seen before.
I am wondering what upgrade in firepower she’s gonna get as the .50AE is one powerful hand cannon, that can even punch through body armor.

Hmmmmm. Looking at the gun parts, it’s notable that there’s no bullet in the barrel, meaning that they could combine into some form of energy weapon. But there were casings flying about earlier. Where did they come from?

Well, if it is an esper firing gun, it’ll either be Shiva(whoo-hoo courtesy breasts!) or Siren(think she’s about the only other female summon in FF history). As far as the shells, there’s probably an energy bullet, but there still has to be a delivery system, hence the shell casings(which, like in some games with unlimited ammo, never run out for some odd reason).
And of course, I fracking love the DE; it’s one of my favorite handguns, next to the Colt Single Action Army(I’m a Revolver Ocelot fan, so that’s why).
