I Want to Make a Game

I’ve been thinking about what I could do with all the characters from this comic. I’m not a fantastic programmer but I would really love to make a Strawberry Death Cake Dating Sim. I think theres plenty of pretty girls I could use from the comic. Just not sure if I have enough Flash programming prowless to accomplish something like that. Maybe If did something really simple.
What do you guys think?

Dating sims don’t require too much in the way of programming ability, if you can find a good template to work with that lets you essentially insert images, script dialogue, and compile. :) Good luck!

I do agree with the above poster that a “moosing” must be a viable outcome in some fashion. Something like a dating sim wouldn’t require too much programming. Plenty of art though.

A game would be awesome,dating sim or otherwise.And I agree with everyone else,it wouldn’t take much effort programming wise,just need a script and art.Also it should be ridiculously funny with the moose involved somehow.

RPG maker is great, but the skins could be a small problem (espacially the moose^^)
Novelty and Blade Engine seem to have the approval of the people I know that are into that stuff.

If you really can’t figure out the programming, you can always ask for help, there are plenty of people who can do the coding, thats the easy part compared to coming up with a viable script and good art.

Well, to pull it off you wouldn’t need a lot of flash knowledge. I’ve been building a visual novel for sometime now and there are programs out there already set up for just that kind of game. Novelty and Blade Engine are 2 that comes to mind, and there is a community called Renp’y that is like a resource for Dating Sims and VN’s

I am a programmer … the idea of Slasher come Puzzle game. Would be good practice for me and look good in my portfolo. I currently code in C# and XNA (pc/360) if you give me permission i could throw something together. What would you want 2D, Isometric, 2.5D or full 3D? (2.5D is a 2D game in a 3D world normaly you only move in 2 axis with the illision that you can move in all 3 axis)

What aboutan RPGMaker game? This engine is very easy to use, yet it allows anyone to make outstanding games (even noobs like mysel)f. Oh, and there’s no coding necessary so you don’t need any coding knowledge to use it.

hmmm. if you needs help i suggest contacting artix entertainment (im fairly sure you could find some one to volunteer some time here and there). you can find out a little about them by checking out one of their flashbased games. http://www.aq.com <-is a great example of what they are capable of.

Sounds like an interesting idea, I just hope you don’t make it like the some of the online ones where their affection meter goes up when you answer their multiple choice questions correctly, it gets really dull when they do that.

I think you’d be able to find a lot of people willing to help you with this game, and being a ludicrous Harvest Moon and Persona fan I can attest to loving a good Dating Sim. You don’t gotta do the whole thing by yourself, y’know. Just as long as I don’t HAVE to play as Jason, derp :P.

RPGMaker is good at what it does, but there’s plenty of VN makers out there. I came across one this morning that claims you don’t need any programming skill, but includes a simple scripting language to extend it if you want to do something it otherwise couldn’t.
The programs name is Novelty, and it’s found at http://www.visualnovelty.com.
It even creates an EXE file, so you can distribute it as a complete game.

It’d be a great way to promote the comic.
If you have someone who can do 3D modeling, maybe you could use Torque3D (www.garagegames.com) and have it a be a full 3D game playable through a browser using InstantAction.
If you don’t, well Torque2D should be out in a couple months.
Then again if you do it in flash you could just put it on http://www.newgrounds.com for maximum exposure.

In my opinion I think flash would be the best way for you to go with such a game idea too, it could be posted on newgrounds if youd wanted, and you could include lots more custom costumes for all your cute girl characters.
I spose it’s just finding a good flash game coder though, maybe if you look for a good gaming flash forum that’ll show lot’s of examples and tips that you can easily draw from to teach yourself some flash, you could also volunteer to a good flash coder to be their artist if they pay you back by helping you with your game idea later, that’s what I’m doing with gamemaker towards my next year of uni.

i don’ know if it was mentioned before, but i think the whole concept could even be put into a bigger game
this midnight world somehow reminds me of the world hellgate: london takes place in, also the fighting etc, so some rpg shooter like that could be interesting some time if possible
i’d totally buy it ^^
